4 Queens Hotel and Casino Las Vegas - Fabric Design

$120.00

Project: The Las Vegas Influence on Absolutely Everything

The 4 Queens forms one of the 4 corners of Fremont Street and Casino Centre Blvd. The 1960s were exciting times for Las Vegas, Fremont Street (the glitter gulch), was a mass of neon, and in 1966 the 4 Queens opened its doors. This decorated shed style of architecture enabled sign designers cover an otherwise basic building with miles of neon tubing. This style is a massive source of inspiration for me, it is just such an incredible use of neon lighting and it’s what makes Fremont Street so beautiful. I also have happy memories of Hugo's Cellar, the steakhouse, you still get a rose when you arrive, it is placed in a small vase on your table, and then wrapped in tinfoil so you can take it with you at the end of your meal :^))) Peter and I love it and it won Best Steakhouse in our 2econd Friday competition. It is an amazing visual source for designing fabric, it’s bright, has stripes, circles, angles, and gorgeous colors. Four Queens was named after builder Ben Goffstein’s 4 daughters, Faith (Hearts), Hope (Diamonds), Benita (Clubs) and Michele (Spades).  It had great prizes including a house, diamond ring and nylons!
